Scope and Contents

This collection contains audio reels and ephemera. There are seventy-three 7-inch audio reels, mostly containing live recordings from various New Jersey venues during the 1970s. This includes commercially released as well as unreleased material, and features Bobby Hackett, Jess Stacy, Dick Wellstood, Earl Hines, Warren Vache, Sr., and Jimmy McPartland. The audiovisual portion of the collection also includes a recording of a 1971 Pee Wee Russell memorial concert featuring Teddy Wilson. The ephemera includes catalogs, programs, correspondence, research, and newspaper clippings. Also included are letters, subscription lists, photographs, and other ephemera pertaining to the New Jersey Jazz Society.
