Biographical Sketch

William F. Augustine was a photographer who resided most of his life in southern New Jersey. He was employed by various newspapers in Philadelphia and Camden, including the Philadelphia Inquirer and served as a photographer in the United States Army during World War II, including service in Europe. As a free lance photographer, he provided images to the Newark Star-Ledger for a series of articles on New Jersey history written by Henry Charlton Beck (from 1947 to 1965) and continued by Augustine (through 1973) after Beck's death. He lived in retirement in Florida.
